Raytheon has successfully completed an integrated flight test of its terminal high-altitude area defence (THAAD) radar at the Pacific Missile Range Facility in Hawaii, US.
During the test, the AN/TPY-2 mobile X-band radar successfully acquired the target, provided the fire control software with track and discrimination data to destroy the lethal object in support of the low endo-atmospheric intercept.

The test flight also demonstrated the capabilities of fire control software, a joint development of Raytheon and Lockheed Martin, in engaging the target and initialising the launch sequence.
The AN/TPY-2 radar is capable of performing search, threat detection, classification, discrimination and precision tracking at longer ranges.
