The Canadian Government has awarded a contract to General Dynamics to build and test an upgrade package for the Canadian Army’s fleet of LAV III vehicles.

Under the $34.4m contract, the company will perform trade-off studies, design work, prototype build and testing for the upgrades, which will be incorporated into the LAV III fleet.

General Dynamics Land Systems senior vice-president Sridhar Sridharan said the upgraded LAV III vehicle would provide greater protection against the threats and challenges of current and future battlefields.

Work under the contract will be carried out at the company’s facilities in London, Ontario, Edmonton and Alberta.
