The Brazilian Army has awarded a contract to Helibras and Turbomeca to upgrade its 34 AS365K Panther helicopters belonging to the army's aviation wing.

Under the contract Turbomeca do Brasil will supply 68 Arriel 2C2 CG engines to replace the Arriel 1M1 engines currently powering the Panther helicopters of the Brazilian Army.

The Arriel 2C2 CG delivers 15% increased continuous power when compared to its predecessor engines.

A total of 1,300 engines operated in Brazil and Latin America will be upgraded by Turbomeca do Brasil in collaboration with Turbomeca America Latina based at Montevideo.

Delivery of the first Arriel 2C2 CG engine is scheduled for the end of 2010.
