The US Army has awarded a contract to Oshkosh to install rear-view camera systems on the mine-resistant ambush-protected (MRAP) all-terrain vehicle (M-ATV).

Under the $33m contract, Oshkosh will integrate the camera systems on more than 2,250 M-ATV vehicles.

The camera system, which uses an infrared camera core in an LED-equipped tailgate assembly integrates existing vehicle video displays.

The system provides enhanced rearward visibility in all environmental conditions such as dust, obscurants and incremental weather in both day and night operations.

The contract has been awarded by the US Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command Life-Cycle Management Command (TACOM LCMC).

Work is expected to begin in March 2010 and run until May 2010
