French Army Pilots to Wear Thales Goggles

16 November 2009

The French Army has awarded a contract to Thales Angénieux to supply 1,500 pairs of Helicopter Light Intensifier Equipment (HELIE) night vision goggles for the Army's helicopter pilots.

The HELIE is a lightweight, compact and high-performance night vision goggle, which incorporates a third-generation tube, a wide range of accessories, face mask, helmet adapter and magnifier.

The optical performance of the night vision equipment provides level five night flying in complete safety for the pilots and collects 60% more light than conventional goggles.

The first production deliveries are scheduled for 2011 and the rest are to be continued for the next five years.
