The US Army has awarded a $438m contract to Oshkosh Corporation for the provision of an additional 1,000 mine-resistant ambush-protected (MRAP) all-terrain vehicles (M-ATV).
With the new contract, the total value of the awards exceeds $3.2bn and the total number of vehicles Oshkosh will deliver rises to 6,219.
Under the contract, the company will produce and deliver 1,000 M-ATV vehicles for the month of December 2009.
Based on the combat-proven medium tactical vehicle replacement (MTVR) chassis, the Oshkosh M-ATV uses the company’s proprietary TAK-4 independent suspension system.
It provides extreme mobility, 16in of independent wheel travel and a 70% off-road profile capability.
