Panhard Offers Protected Patrol Vehicle to UK Army

04 November 2009

Panhard has partnered with Rheinmetall Defense to offer a long-wheelbase model of the protected patrol vehicle (PVP) in the British light PPV tender.

The PPV, dubbed the PVP heavy duty vehicle, is a four-wheel-drive vehicle in the 5t class, offering ballistic protection to Nato STANAG level two and protection against roadside bombs.

Designed to be highly manoeuvrable, the vehicle is seen as a suitable option for the rugged Afghan terrain.

Meanwhile, French armoured vehicle maker Panhard has made an unsolicited offer of 30 of its PVP small armoured vehicles to the British Government as an interim solution before the LPPV tender.

The small armoured vehicles will replace Land Rover Snatch vehicles, if the government accepts the offer.
