The US Army has awarded a contract to technology solutions company Alion Science and Technology to provide support services for its Modeling and Simulation Office (AMSO).
The AMSO is a US Army organisation set up to guide and coordinate strategic modelling and simulation (M&S) efforts across the army.
Under the $3.3m contract, the company will provide tools and subject matter expertise to support AMSO and its mission to train and supply qualified professionals to the army to create a fully trained army M&S community.
In addition, Alion will perform geospatial analysis, examine technical requirements, conduct staff-level research and will assist special projects related to the execution of the M&S strategy.
Work under the contract began on 1 September 2009 and will run to 31 July 2010.
