The Indian Army successfully test fired the land attack version of supersonic cruise missile BrahMos from the Pokhran test range in Rajasthan on 29 July.
The army has test fired its land attack block-II version for the fourth time this year. The missile hit the desired target at Ajasar area range from 25km away.
The BrahMos missile has a range of 300km and carries a 300kg conventional warhead and can achieve speeds of up to Mach 2.8, approximately three times the speed of sound.
The advanced seeker software with target discriminating capabilities was tested to enhance the missile's capability to choose a particular land target among a group of targets.
The BrahMos missile programme is a joint venture of India and Russia, with the first battery entering the service of Indian Army in June 2007. Each battery of the missile is equipped with four mobile launchers mounted on heavy 12×12 Tatra transporters.
