US Army Extends Contract for MK19 Grenade Machine Guns

The US Army has awarded a $10m contract extension to General Dynamics to produce MK19 grenade machine guns.

The highly versatile MK19 guns have aided soldiers in firing against a broad range of targets in offensive and defensive operations for over 20 years.

This award brings the total contract value for General Dynamics to over $67m.

Production work will be carried out at the company's Saco facility.

Deliveries are slated to begin in April 2010 and expected to be completed in July 2012.
