Cubic Adds Wireless Rifle to Training Simulator

07 February 2008 12:38

Cubic Corporation has added a wireless M-4 training rifle to its EST 2000 Engagement Skill Trainer, allowing freedom of movement and greater realism during simulated training.

The new battery-powered weapons feature a CO2-driven recoil with 2.4GHz wireless connection.

The rifles are compatible with Cubic's Engagement Skills Trainer and Warrior Skills Trainer.

Cubic director of business development for US Army programmes Terry Fiest says there is a growing demand for wireless simulators to achieve more realistic training situations.

"A tetherless weapon is more suited to tactical engagements and gives the soldier more latitude," Fiest says.

"We are finding that our customers like tethered weapons for marksmanship and they prefer thetherless for dismounted and offensive training scenarios."
