Thales And EADS To Develop French Intranet

The French Defence Procurement Agency (DGA) has awarded Thales and EADS Defence & Security a contract to develop, manufacture and deploy the first intranet for military use that complies with the 'Classified Defence' security classification.

INTRACED is France's first step towards the systematic use of secure intranets throughout the Ministry of Defence, giving access to numerous applications including messaging services, collaborative work tools and directories.

It is due to be rolled out at the end of 2008 and will interconnect with military systems used in remote locations and joint operations with NATO.

France expects the system to improve the efficiency of information exchange, while complying with confidentially demanded by current legislation.

Thales is project leader and EADS a co-contractor with 40 percent of the workshare.
