Russia Shields US Radar And Missile Plans

Russia has opposed plans by the US military to deploy a radar station in the Czech Republic and interceptor missiles in Poland, according a report by Interfax news agency.

Speaking at a press conference following the last round of missile defence talks with the US in Budapest on Thursday, Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Kislyak says talks on the issue have been "discouraging".

The talks follow failed conversations in Moscow in October on the same issue.

The US says it wants the stations to shield off threats from "rogue" states while Russia feels the projects will put it at risk.
