EADS Defence & Security has won a €14m contract from the German military to create a network for the MobKommSysBw tactical and mobile communications system.

EADS will supply 30 mobile system teams, ten mobile network management teams, training equipment, a network management facility and training services as part of the contract.

Hardware for the network is being supplied by Cisco Systems and will use civil IP-based communication standards.

Existing German equipment will be used for transmission on the network.
