India Tests New Interceptor Missile

03 December 2007 14:20

India has successfully tested a new interceptor missile, ahead of a test that will target the nuclear-capable surface-to-surface Prithvi-II.

The interceptor missile AAD was tested using an electronic target, not another missile, according to local media reports.

Officials say the AAD met all the parameters of the BMD system and performed exactly in the manner envisaged in intercepting the incoming enemy missile at high-speed.

India plans to test the AAD using an adversary missile in the next few days.
