NATO Members to Fight Cyber Attacks Together

26 October 2007 14:37

NATO defence ministers have agreed to pool their resources to fight against cyber attacks that threaten national security.

NATO spokesman James Appathurai says cyber security is of growing importance, as exemplified by the sustained attack on Estonian websites which caused political parties, media and business community to temporarily shut down earlier this year.

"There is a growing consensus within NATO that the alliance could add value and should define exactly where it can add value," Appathurai says.
