Polaris Produces Vehicles With New Engine

27 September 2007

Polaris Industries has completed the first production of its newest military vehicle, the MV800 4x4 ATV, the first of its vehicles to feature the Patriot engine with electric direct fuel injection.

The new engine, developed in conjunction with Australian company Orbital Corp., uses technology allowing it to surpass the performance of traditional diesel compression engines with almost twice the horse power.

The 760cc, 40hp spark ignition engine uses JP5, the US military’s standard fuel, but can also operate on JP5, gasoline and highway diesel.
