Pentagon Suspends JLTV Development Programme

26 September 2007

The Pentagon has temporarily halted the joint light tactical wehicle programme due to changing needs in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The improved use of improvised explosive devices and explosively formed penetrator attacks in conflict zones has highlighted the need for a more survivable light utility vehicle, Army officials say.

The US Army' Tank Automotive Research Command (TACOM) life cycle management command has outlined a list or requirement sand JLTV variants for the programme, which will be incorporated into a new strategy to be released next year.
