Russia Televises Giant Bomb Test

13 September 2007 09:17

Russia has tested what is said to be the world's largest non-nuclear bomb today, according to reports on Russian TV.

The nation's military is reported to say the giant fuel-air bomb was tested on a four-story building in a test range, reducing it to rubble, the UK's BBC news says.

The thermobaric device has been given the name Moab (for Massive Ordinance Air Burst) – reports, however, have been calling it the Mother of all Bombs.

It is believed the Moab uses seven tonnes of explosives, employing nanotechnology to double the heat from a blast.
