Allen-Vanguard Digitises Signature ROV

11 September 2007

Allen-Vanguard has upgraded its remote operated vehicle - The Vanguard - with digital technology, allowing 'plug and play' accessory functionality and intuitive control.

The digitisation means new devices can be added to the ROV network and controlled remotely without the ROV having to return to base and suffer downtime.

Speaking at DSEi in London, the company says the hand controller can be removed from the console to provide limited functionality via bluetooth, such as driving the ROV into and out of its transporter.

Firing circuits have additional safety measures to virtually eliminate the risk of accidental firing.

The console can also be used as a laptop, allowing operators to compile incident reports and embed images in the field.
