AeroVironment Refurbishes Raven UAS

07 September 2007

The US Army has awarded AeroVironment, an unmanned aircraft systems manufacturer, a $16.4m contract to refurbish its Raven unmanned aircraft systems.

The contract covers refurbishment, repair work and system upgrades.

Raven is a small, easily transportable, hand-launched sensor platform that provides real-time imagery for 'over the hill' and 'around the corner' reconnaissance, surveillance and target acquisition in support of tactical units.

The system was used extensively by the US Army in Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
