Airborne Systems Develops Steerable Cargo Delivery System

30 August 2007

Airborne Systems has developed a family of precision cargo aerial delivery systems with a common guidance platform for use in the US Army's Joint Precision Aerial Delivery Systems programme.

Airborne uses Global Positioning Systems (GPS) to 'steer' the cargo to the target location.

It has developed a series of systems for use with varying weights and sizes of cargo load.

The system can be controlled from the ground and air and can be used to deliver personnel or supplies to remote or dangerous locations.

Airborne says the commonality feature of the family of systems ensures optimal system performance and minimises user training requirements.

Airborne's FireFly system has been selected for use in the 2,000lb load category of the JPADS programme.
