Kongsberg to Supply Remote Weapons Stations to US Army

23 August 2007

Norwegian company Kongsberg Defence and Aerospace has been awarded a NOK8bn (£1.35bn) contract to supply the US Army with Remote Weapon Stations (RWS) for the Common Remotely Operated Weapon Station (CROWS) programme.

CROWS is a joint acquisition programme for weapons stations for the US Army's vehicles programme.

Kongsberg will be supplying its PROTECTOR RWS, which protects members of the military crew by allowing the vehicle's weapons to be operated from inside the vehicle.

The contract will last five years.
