Rockwell Collins to Upgrade Virtual Training Device

10 August 2007 14:50

Rockwell Collins has been awarded a $23.8m contract by the US Army to upgrade its Aviation Combined Arms Tactical Trainer (ACATT) Helmet Mounted Display (HMD).

AVCATT is a mobile, transportable, virtual simulation training system, designed to allow Army aviation to conduct realistic, high intensity training exercises and mission rehearsals.

Rockwell Collins will provide the SimEye SR100A HMD, a more compact, lightweight, high-resolution version of SimEye XL100A, which is currently used in AVCATT.

Improvements include higher resolution, upgraded head-tracker technology and reductions in head-borne weight and overall size.
