Force Protection Wins Robotic Arm Contract

08 August 2007

Force Protection has been awarded a $5.3m contract to produce 40 robotic articulating interrogation arms for the Iraqi Light Armoured Vehicle (ILAV).

The arm, which is used to detect and remove suspected explosive threats, will be integrated into existing ILAV vehicles produced by BAE Land and Armament Systems.

Force Protection will also produce 22 new vehicles.

The ILAV was created in response to threats from improvised explosive devices and has been in use in Iraq and Afghanistan since 2004.
