Tiny High Performance Radio Unveiled

08 August 2007

FreeWave Technologies has unveiled a new radio, which is the smallest available in the defence industry and also the world's highest performing wireless spectrum model.

The MM2 900MHz radio represents a breakthrough in performance, format and price, FreeWave says.

FreeWave vice president of sales and marketing Colin Lippincott says the MM2 was designed to meet the needs of the defence industry and is ideal for military equipment where space is at a premium, such as Unmanned Aerial Vehicles and robotic and guided parachute applications.

"Modern military demands are requiring devices to become more compact and less costly, while continuing to offer a tremendous amount of performance," Lippincott says.

The tiny MM2 has dimensions of 50.8mm in length, 31.5mm in width and 9.6mm in height.

It operates at temperatures of -40°C to 85°C and has 128-bit AES encryption, preventing detection and unauthorised access.
