The US Army has awarded Lockheed Martin a $125m contract for the production of Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System (GMLRS) unitary rockets.
The US Department of Defense has also advanced the rockets, which will see UK troops benefit from precision-strike capability to beyond 70km, into low-rate production.

GMLRS provides increased accuracy, reducing the number of rockets needed to defeat current targets by 80%.
The UK also recently signed a £250m deal with the company.
Guided unitary rockets have both a unitary warhead and a multi-mode fuse, which allows troops to engage targets with pin-point precision in difficult environments.
