L-3 Communications’ Display Systems unit has been awarded a firm-fixed price contract by Lockheed Martin to develop a new active matrix liquid crystal display (AMLCD) assembly for the US Army’s AH-64D Apache helicopter.
The new 5in×5in colour AMLCD assembly will enhance the helicopter’s target detection, recognition and night vision sensor display capabilities during day or night operations.

The high-resolution display system will replace the existing monochromatic display unit on US military platforms.
The company has delivered over 1,000 display systems to Lockheed and the US Army in support of the Apache platform.
