Lockheed has been awarded a contract by General Dynamics (GD) to produce additional communications equipment for the warfighter information network-tactical (WIN-T), increment 2.

Under the $105m contract, the company will deliver transmission subsystem radios, modems, antennas and mast systems, which will be integrated into various combat vehicle platforms.

The transmission subsystem forms the basis for the WIN-T network’s data transfer capability across wide geographic areas.

The WIN-T increment 2 network provides high-bandwidth, on-the-move connectivity by integrating satellite, line-of-sight and terrestrial waveforms and actively switches between the waveforms, depending on the terrain.

GD is the prime contractor for the WIN-T and is supported by Lockheed Martin, BAE Systems, Harris Corporation and L-3 Communications.
