Curtiss-Wright Corporation has received a contract from Lockheed Martin to design, develop and manufacture the turret drive servo system for the UK’s new Scout reconnaissance vehicle programme.

The contract is for the demonstration phase and includes an option for production deliveries to run through December 2013.

The Scout vehicle is a new medium-weight armoured reconnaissance ground vehicle that has been designed to support high-intensity major combat operations.

The turret drive servo system provides weapon stabilisation for tracked combat vehicles, and the reconnaissance vehicle will replace the British Army’s existing Scimitar vehicle.

Work on the system will be performed at the company’s motion control facility in Neuhausen, Switzerland.
