The French Army has selected Thales to provide through-life support for its radio-controlled improvised explosive devices (IED) jammers that are deployed in foreign operations.

Under the latest contract, the company will provide operational support and an end-to-end procurement and logistics service for jammer sub-assemblies between France and any external operations zone.

Training will also be provided to the forces to enhance their technical skills so that they can carry out advanced maintenance of electronic defence systems by themselves.

Thales customer support and services activities vice-president Laurent Maury said the support services provided by the company would help forces to combat IED threats in external theatres of operation.
