The Israeli Defense Force is developing new rocket defence systems, according to Israel’s Defense Minister Ehud Barak.

“In the next few years, the Iron Dome [mobile air defence system that uses missiles to intercept short-range rockets and artillery shells] will be joined by the Magic Wand [a similar system for ranges of 40-200km] and a more advanced Arrow missile,” he said.

Israeli Air Force Commander, Major General Ido Nechushtan, acknowledged the Iron Dome was not an absolute solution to the rocket threat.

“The system has limitations. It doesn’t provide complete protection. We must acknowledge this fact,” he said.
