ATK has received a follow-on modification contract for the production of the mortar guidance kit (MGK) under the US Army Accelerated Precision Mortar Initiative (APMI) program.
The $50m contract is in response to an Army urgent Operational Needs Statement (ONS) to provide additional precision mortars to US forces in Afghanistan.

The MGK combines GPS guidance and directional control surfaces into a package and transforms existing 120mm mortar bodies into precision guided munitions.
Work on the program design and management will be carried out at the company’s facility in Plymouth, Minnesota while production will be performed near Elk River, Minnesota and West Virginia, US.
