Orbit Communication has been awarded an indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract by the US Army for production and delivery of voice altitude warning systems (VAWS).

Under the $5m IDIQ contract, the US army will use VAWS for its combat deployed UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters.

The system provides commercial-off-the-shelf solutions for airborne fixed wing, rotary, and seaborne applications.

Deliveries of the first batch of VAWS is scheduled to take place during 2011.
