Ashok Leyland and Krauss-Maffei (KMW) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to jointly develop advanced defence systems for India and defence forces worldwide.

The new joint venture (JV) will initially develop artillery systems, combat systems, armoured wheeled vehicles, recovery vehicles, bridge laying systems and other similar products.

KMW will provide the technology and technical assistance required for the development of the defence systems by the Indian company.

Ashok Leyland is the largest supplier of logistics to the Indian Army with over 60,000 of its Stallion vehicles and KMW’s MBT Leopard 2, the artillery system PzH 2000 and the highly protected Dingo 2 are used by the armed forces of over 30 nations worldwide.
