An Israeli army battalion has tested a four-wheeled robot, known as EyeDrive, at a West Bank crossing point near the town of Tulkarm, Central Palestine.

The 3.5kg EyeDrive device can be rolled beneath Palestinian cars and trucks to check for suspicious objects and contraband.

The device operator receives a live video feed via a wireless tablet computer.

The device, which can be used in counter-terrorism and surveillance operations, carries four rotatable cameras providing a 360-degree view, video and audio motion-detection software, and can deploy separate sensors, according to Xinhua News Agency.
