FLIR Systems has been awarded an order to supply its Star SAFIRE II stabilised multisensor systems to support the US Army MEDEVAC programme.

The $15.8m units will be employed on the Army MEDEVAC UH-60 Blackhawk helicopters that are currently serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The UH-60 Black Hawk is the US Army’s front-line utility helicopter used for air assault, air cavalry and aeromedical evacuation units.

Work will be carried out at the company’s facilities in Oregon, US, with deliveries expected to be completed within the next year.
