Cubic has been awarded a contract to provide basic skills trainers and student stations for the Javelin Field Tactical Trainer.

The $26m contract is a follow-on contract with the Raytheon-Lockheed Javelin Joint Venture to deliver basic skills trainer components that include a classroom trainer and student and instructor stations.

Cubic’s Simulation Systems program manager Karen Pickell said the trainer uses realistic scenarios to train troops in field surveillance, target recognition and acquisition, and fire mission control on the system.

Javelin is a man-portable surveillance, anti-armour missile and fire-and-forget missile with automatic self guidance, and capable of engaging helicopters in a direct-attack mode on the battlefield.

The systems will be delivered to the joint venture beginning January 2012.
