Lockheed Martin UK has successfully completed a series of live firing trials of the CT40 cannon with its turret design at Faldingworth Test Range in Lincolnshire, UK.

The trials were conducted as part of the warrior capability and sustainment programme (WCSP) to upgrade the British Army’s principal armoured fighting vehicle (AFV).

Lockheed UK vice-president and managing director Alan McCormick said the trial programme demonstrated the capability of the warrior upgrade solution.

“The solution ensures that the vehicle will be ready for future tasks rather than compromising the UK soldier by reacting to change,” he added.

The warrior transformation solution proposes improvements to the vehicle that include fitting and integrating the CT40 weapon system, an open electronic architecture system and improved armour protection.
