Bangladesh has unveiled plans to purchase military hardware, including new combat planes and helicopters with short-range air missile defence systems.

About 140 personnel carriers have recently been purchased to strengthen the army’s war fleet in a move to equip the country’s armed forces with sophisticated weapons.

The purchase plan that is in progress includes sophisticated tanks and self-propelled artillery, according to the Xinhua News Agency.

The government is also planning to provide higher training and equipment for the armed forces in order to send more peacekeepers on international peacekeeping missions.
