Britain and France: A Dialogue of Decline?

02 November 2010

The is a study that examines Anglo-French defence cooperation and implications for the European and Euro-Atlantic security and defence relationships.

The paper lists a practical agenda that would focus cooperation on ten areas including strategic nuclear synergy, naval strike cooperation, intelligence sharing, forging a new security knowledge community, operationalising the comprehensive approach and affording strategic sovereignty.

The paper tries to project the idea that a strategic partnership between the largest economies and biggest cash spenders on defence could create a European pole of security and defence power that could help to reinvigorate and rebalance a tired transatlantic relationship.
