2010 Quadrennial Defense Review
21 May 2010The Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) published the 2010 Quadrennial Defense Review (QDR) on the US armed forces to help develop new strategies to fund and organise all aspects of the military.
Areas covered include procurement in an era when budgets for all areas are likely to be slashed, deployment at a time when the armed forces are already stretched and the future direction of the military after withdrawal from Afghanistan.
Most of the issues discussed in the review relate to the changes in US forces and procurement plans, and a massive long-term restructuring of the US defence programme budget at a conceptual level.
The QDR aims to direct the country's defence programmes and the associated resources more efficiently to detail a workable national defence strategy and help the military to successfully execute carry out the full range of missions within that strategy.
