LASIM is a lightweight combat and training system developed for dismounted soldiers. It has the capability of a quick (less than two seconds) and reliable ground-to-ground identification using an active Question and Answer principle (Q&A) with a directional laser interrogation and an omni-directional radio frequency (RF) response.
Due to the short transmission times for interrogation and response signals, LASIM has a very low detectability though it is in fact an active system.
