KAMAZ - Military Trucks

"KAMAZ Inc." is the Russian manufacturer of a wide range of diesel engines and military trucks of 3t - 40t load capacity, including all-wheel drive multipurpose trucks of the Mustang family.

MUSTANG DIESEL MILITARY TRUCKS

KAMAZ experience of trucks' successful operation in military and defence structures, as well as design reserve, were the prerequisites for developing the multi-purpose Mustang military truck family, including KAMAZ 4350 (4x4), KAMAZ 5350 (6x6), KAMAZ 6350 (8x8), with load capacities of 4t, 6t and 10t, respectively.

Mustang military trucks are equipped with EURO-2 360hp engines, reinforced transfer cases and 2,550mm cargo beds with fixtures for transportation of European-type removable containers.

Mustang family trucks are provided with turbo-chargers with 'air-air' aftercooling that allows to use trucks in high altitudes (up to 4,500m) without power loss under nominal conditions and increase fuel efficiency by 15% to 20 % in comparison to serial trucks. The engines are equipped with special systems assuring engine trouble-free start at low ambient temperatures to -50°C.

Improved tractive capabilities of Mustang trucks are provided by a ten-speed gearbox (KAMAZ-4350, KAMAZ-5350) or nine-speed gearbox (KAMAZ-6350), with possible installation of ZF gearbox 16S151 to use trucks in heavy off-road conditions.

"Kama-1260" cross-country radial tires with variable pressure are provided on Mustang military trucks. With tire pressure change, its supporting portion increases to provide the truck off-road capability, i.e. fording up to 1.75m, ability to overcome trenches of 0.6m to 1.4m and walls of 0.6m height, with high specific power developed.

The Mustang military truck family comprises all proven technical solutions of serial trucks, such as differential lock, improved air-cleaning system and advanced brake system assuring quick brake release. Different power take-off and transfer case versions will satisfy even the most demanding consumer. A geared hoist with 82m cable is installed on all trucks to provide for mobility in heavy road conditions and for recovery of stuck vehicles. Protracted front and rear buffers allow recovery of a truck by pushing it forward or pulling it back by a similar truck. This design was first used in combat action in Afghanistan.

CAB AND VEHICLE ARMOR

"Mustang" military trucks are provided with a three-seat comfortable cab with zones for crew rest, arms and special equipment arrangement. To protect from small arms and shell fragments, all Mustang military trucks may be equiped with cabs with external or internal armoring.

KAMAZ-43501 MILITARY TRUCK

A new KAMAZ-43501 truck with scaled-down wheelbase and tires has been produced on the base of KAMAZ-4350 chassis with a load capacity up to 3t to substitute vehicles of similar load capacity powered with petrol engines. The major features of two-axle KAMAZ-43501 and KAMAZ-4350 trucks are their maneuverability in comparison to similar Russian and foreign trucks, smooth running, high steering response even in extreme road conditions; thanks to anti-roll bars installed on both axles, new trucks pass sharp turns and heavy road sections easily without roll or swinging.

KAMAZ-6350 8X8 MILITARY TRUCK

The most popular truck in the Mustang family, the KAMAZ-6350 has 10t to 16t load capacity and is the most unified with serial trucks. This truck is our most powerful, equipped with KAMAZ-740.50.360 360hp engine and a hydro-mechanical gearbox. A torque converter installed between the engine and manual gearbox allows 2.5 times increased start-up torque. 8x8 wheel arrangement provides ability to overcome the 1.2m wide fosses.

KAMAZ-65224 AND KAMAZ-6560 MILITARY TRUCKS

Using parts and components of well-known KAMAZ-6520 dump truck (6x4) (all-wheel drive version is KAMAZ-6522 truck), the new KAMAZ-65224 and KAMAZ-6560 truck family with increased load capacity has been developed.

The three-axle KAMAZ-65224 with GVW of 30t and load capacity up to 18t is equipped with KAMAZ-740.50.360 type 360hp diesel turbo-charged engine.

The four-axle KAMAZ-6560 with GVW of 38t and load capacity up to 23t is equipped with KAMAZ-740.35-400 type 400hp engine.

Components of European producers are used together with "KAMAZ Inc." units and components such as: clutch, gearbox, transfer case and axles. Tractive capabilities and other design features of these trucks provide acceleration up to 90km/h, climbing ability at least 31°, fording ability up to 1.85m and vertical walls up to 0.6m passing.
