10 January 2007 14:15

GMA Cover Corporation announced today that it has delivered its first shipments of the Ultra Light-Weight Camouflage Net System (ULCANS) on time, officially providing the US Army with a second source for the multi-spectral camouflage nets. The initial delivery order was awarded in June 2006, with deliveries continuing through until July 2007. The entire contract is potentially worth $1.73 billion over ten years.

"Making our first ULCANS shipment is a terrific achievement and a milestone moment for GMA. We are extremely proud of the dedication and determination of our staff, whom have worked tirelessly through the approval process and getting into full rate production," said Glenn Verkindt CEO of GMA. "This is an exciting time for our company and it is truly an honor to be involved in providing ULCANS to the US Army. We are thankful for the Government’s continued confidence in GMA and look forward to an upcoming second delivery order."

GMA manufactures ULCANS in its facility at Port Huron, Michigan. GMA has recently purchased a second manufacturing facility in the immediate vicinity and will continue to expand its manufacturing operations in support of ULCANS production. As a result, GMA will continue the hiring and training of additional staff for the specialized, technically sophisticated production of the ULCANS system.
