Global Fleet Sales (GFS), a member of the RMA Group, has been awarded a $146m contract to supply nearly 6,000 Ford Ranger light tactical vehicles (LTVs) to the US Army by late 2011. This extends the supply of the family of GFS Ford Ranger light tactical vehicles initially awarded five years ago for over 30,000 vehicles.

GFS was chosen in a three-way competition for the contract extended by the US Army Contracting Command at the TACOM Life Cycle Management Command in Warren, Michigan.

The contract calls for the procurement and modification of police vehicles, cargo transport and mobile maintenance vehicles. RMA Automotive, at its assembly and distribution center in Chonburi, Thailand, will complete modification and fleet assembly.

The US Government holds options for additional quantities of fleet inventory that can be extended into 2012. If the options are fully exercised, the contract will total 11,987 units of the three LTV variants.
