TacSi-Constructive/Virtual Tactical Simulation

01 December 2003

TacSi is not just another constructive simulator that moves tactical symbols across a screen as an electronic version of the old sandbox. TacSi combines a construc-tive and a virtual simulator in one system with one common architecture to a flexible multi-application training system.

The TacSi database and models (including CGF) are of so fine resolution that even an image generator can be used with it. So parallel to the tactical map it is possible to see on a second screen the virtual image of the battle scenario with e. g. tanks in their actual formation and turret orientation, battlefield effects, weather conditions etc. - additional information that helps to assess the situation and to make decisions.

Units and formations for TacSi exercises are easily generated by an explorer type technique and are quickly positioned in the scenario with simple dragging and dropping.
Combat behaviour of the virtual forces is selected from a library of orders and then controls the conduct of the exercise until the trainee revises them.

Its multi-console capability allows to extend the TacSiĀ® system to a COFT / UCOFT type system or even beyond by simply adding turrets replicas to it and use the signals of their devices to control the virtual vehicles in the exercise . The Swiss Army uses TacSi with their ELTAM Battalion Trainer with 80 (eighty) workplaces and 16 (sixteen) full vehicle replicas.

TacSiĀ® is a composite system with all the latest features of current simulation: DIS/HLA network, exercise C3I functionality, combat support functionality, CGF, dynamic terrain, 3D Map, DBGS, CBT, TMIS (Training Management and Information System), LINUX operating system, PC based image generator and others.

TacSi is a multifunctional system: a high resolution constructive simulator and a scalable virtual combat simulator that can be extended from a starter kit on a lap top to a multi turret trainer of battalion size or more.
