French-based company Secapem develops and manufactures live fire training software for the air and ground defence sectors. Their latest fire training system, the multi receiver system (MRS) allows for the accurate evaluation of shot grouping and accuracy, enabling weapons trainers to quickly identify and correct discrepancies in a subject’s targeting ability. Real-time scoring system for live fire trainingThe MRS permits the instantaneous restitution of data from various Secapem miss distance indicators (MDI) and targets. The MRS is a real-time scoring station used to process and display the position of each shot around a target during live fire training. This station is able to operate with up to four active targets at the same time due the integration of one to four radio receivers within the MRS. The primary function for this system is to collect data coming from the SECAPEM transmitter. This information is immediately processed, in relation with the mission configuration (training session) for "distance" (one sensor) or "position" (multi sensors) target configuration, ammunition properties, and target or UAV characteristics. At the same time this information is recorded on FLASH disk, displayed on the screen and if required, transferred to a network. The maximum detection level is in relation with the target altitude and the size of the projectile: for small projectiles the maximum distance will be 6m, for medium projectiles between 8m and 15m, for large calibres, around 20m and 40m and for missile, 15m. When the target is equipped with a GPS, the MRS could be used as target range indicator or trajectory display with speed, altitude and position on integrated maps. Post mission evaluation for live fire trainingAll information is saved in the scoring station memory, and can be displayed or replayed later. All results of a mission (shot detection, shot position, and GPS data) can be exported to an Excel file for post mission analysis or for distribution at the end of the training event. The display system software, developed in JAVA, can be easily tailored to meet customer requirements. As an option, the MRS can be configured to be used in half duplex mode which enables the sending of information to the target by radio, to modify the RF power of the target transmitter or to use it as a remote control. System sub-assemblies include:
Bespoke training data processing softwareThe mother card processes the data coming from the receiver; the processing result can be displayed and / or sent on the network. The TCP/IP protocol is used with client /server technology. Secapem bespoke software developed in JAVA, can also be installed on other computers from the network; these PCs will "control" the receiving station. Various configurations including date and time of the mission, MDI, calibre, target configuration, and users can be prepared before firing and then automatically run; all the received data will be transferred directly to the initiatory computer. Access to the server is controlled by username and password. Technical specifications:
