15 September 2003 16:18
RUAG ELECTRONICS has been awarded an order from QinetiQ for the supply of SIMLAS infantry tactical laser simulation systems and associated indoor soldier tracking and tactical event monitoring instrumentation. The systems will be delivered during 2003 and will enable QinetiQ to equip a two room facility urban operations test facility in which can be monitored the performance of 5 exercise participants.
Data collection capabilities will include accurate and real time monitoring of the positions of exercise personnel, as well as the combat activities and results. The system has a precise and adjustable wound model and exercise results can be both monitored in real time in an EXCON and subsequently analysed for both individual and group tactical performance.
The system will be used for applied research experimentation into urban operations training.
