RUAG SIMLAS Infantry Laser System in US Coalition Combat ID Trials
15 September 2003 16:18
RUAG’s SIMLAS infantry combat ID and tactical effects simulation system has been chosen as the preferred identification and data collection device for major coalition combat ID infantry exercises currently under way at the US Infantry School Dismounted Battlespace Laboratory at Fort Benning, Georgia.
The trials, conducted under the auspices of the US Army Advanced Combat Technology Demonstration (ACTD) programme, are managed by the US Joint Combat ID Evaluation Team (JCIET) and supported by US Army Communications and Electronics Command (CECOM).
Exercises involve both US and Canadian infantry operating in a variety of tactical situations and in a variety of environments, including urban. SIMLAS was selected for use in these trials because it combines excellent combat ID performance with a highly accurate real time data collection and analysis capability.
